What happened: The House of Representatives passed a package of seven spending bills for Fiscal Year (FY)2022, including one for highway and public transportation programs. It proposes levels that match those in the House-passed INVEST in America Act for Highway Trust Fund-supported programs.
- Read ARTBA’s analysis of the bill’s spending levels.
The spending bills are a separate process from the reauthorization of federal highway and public transportation programs also underway.
Why it matters: Government funding expires Sept. 30, so new legislation or a continuing resolution, which extends current funding levels, must be signed into law by then.
What’s next: The Senate has not yet scheduled consideration of its annual transportation spending bill.
