What happened: Following an executive order from President Joe Biden, the U.S. Department of Transportation (U.S. DOT) has rescinded several Trump administration regulatory reforms. Among them: the “two for one” policy, which mandated that two existing regulations be repealed for every new rule; and regulatory review task forces, which were created to identify and repeal or update existing regulations.
Why it matters: ARTBA supported the Trump reforms. The repeal could lead to increased regulatory burdens for transportation projects.
Timeline: The repeal takes effect 30 days after it is published in the Federal Register. U.S. DOT is not taking public comment.
