ARTBA is offering a new course to help its members prevent trench collapses, a leading cause of death and injury in the U.S. construction industry, according to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

The three-hour program includes hazard identification, sloping, benching, shielding and shoring methods, an overview of soil classification, and other practices to keep workers safe around these dangerous locations. It is available at no cost through an OSHA-sponsored Susan Harwood Training Grant.

Virtual classes for eligible organizations can be scheduled immediately and will be available until Sept. 30. Visit the Transportation Construction Safety Center, or contact ARTBA’s Robinson Vasquez to schedule a class today.
