The Kentucky Association of Highway Contractors, Inc. (KAHC), an ARTBA state chapter, turned 100 years old this month. KAHC was chartered at the Senning’s European Hotel in Louisville with 41 contractors.  The group affiliated with ARTBA in 1958.

Today, the association has 136 contractor members and about 130 associate members, such as materials, engineering, and law firms, Executive Director Chad LaRue said.

The association will be sharing photos, documents, articles, and other items from its archives on its website throughout the year. Historic materials can be submitted to admin@kahc.org for consideration on the site.

Plans are being discussed for an in-person, virtual, or hybrid event later this year to mark the milestone, LaRue said.

“Whether you have been a member of KAHC for one year or 100 years, your support and involvement is the only reason KAHC has been a success for 100 years,” LaRue and 2020 Chairman Alan Bernard said in a Jan. 11 message to members. “Here is hoping that KAHC and your companies are around for 100 more years.”
