The House Appropriations Committee July 14 advanced legislation that would increase spending levels for transportation programs. The full chamber is expected to vote on the bill by the end of the month.
The appropriations bill matches increased funding levels the House passed July 1 in its $2.2 trillion Moving Forward Act infrastructure package. It contains substantial spending increases across all transportation sectors, including more than $61 billion for core highway programs — a 42 percent increase from the current law.
The House intends to pass all 12 annual appropriations bills before the summer recess, tentatively set to begin Aug. 3.
See ARTBA’s earlier story for additional details of the bill.
