Construction industry employers and workers can find the latest coronavirus-related guidance from the federal government at a new website. The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) webpage includes information regarding:
- Using physical barriers to separate workers;
- Social distancing for in-person meetings
- Assessing potential exposure during indoor work; and
- Staggering work schedules to reduce the total number of employees on a job site.
The guidance is not a standard or regulation, and it creates no new legal obligations, OSHA says. The recommendations are advisory and informational in nature.
Employers and workers are encouraged to remain alert to changing outbreak conditions, including as they relate to community spread of the virus and testing availability. In response to changing conditions, employers should implement coronavirus infection prevention measures accordingly, the agency says.
