Gordon N. Dixon (above), CEO of Associated General Contractors of Virginia, will succeed Jeff Southard as executive vice president of the Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance (VTCA).
Dixon brings 20 years of experience in state government, government affairs, and association management to VTCA. He has worked as the Virginia state director of the National Association of Independent Business; corporate affairs manager for Altria; and agency director for the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR). For the past three years he has served as CEO of Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Virginia.
Dixon will join the VTCA staff June 1 and assume the duties of EVP Sept. 1. Southard plans to retire Aug. 31, after 15 years at VTCA, which holds a seat on ARTBA’s Council of State Executives.
“We are pleased that Gordon has agreed to join VTCA to continue and expand on the tremendous success our organization has achieved in recent years,” VTCA President Ryan Gorman said in a March 9 statement following a 10-month search. “Jeff’s retirement is well-deserved, and although we are going to miss him, we are fortunate that he has agreed to work side-by-side with Gordon for several months to assure a smooth transition.”
