Winter slowing of transportation construction work in many parts of the country makes this a good time for industry professionals to think about safety training and certification.

ARTBA offers an extensive menu of hard copy and online safety resources and materials, including the Safety Certification for Transportation Project Professionals™ (SCTPP) program, the industry’s only internationally-accredited safety program. SCTPP certificants from 38 states are now enhancing the safety efforts of 92 organizations.

While no specific training is required to take the SCTPP exam, credential holders say it is helpful to refresh knowledge through a review of the test blueprint found in the SCTPP Study Guide. Reviewing OSHA 10, the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, flagger training, temporary traffic control courses, and other programs are helpful not only to obtaining the SCTPP credential, but also for ongoing safety maintenance.

ARTBA can help you customize what suits your firm’s situation, employees’ needs, or individual learning style. Katie Chimelewski, the associations’ director of safety and certification, has more than 14 years of safety leadership and advocacy experience. She assists the administration and execution of these programs and several federal safety-related training contracts, including the National Work Zone Safety Information Clearinghouse.
