ARTBA and the Women’s Transportation Seminar International (WTS) will host a “Workforce of the Future” session at the association’s Central Regional Meeting, Nov. 6-7 in Kansas City, Mo. Register here.

ARTBA and WTS formed an alliance in October 2018 to support and advance women in the transportation infrastructure sector. The workforce panelists include David Harwood, senior vice president at Terracon; Jeff Lackey, vice president at TranSystems; and Kim Robinett, CEO of TREKK Design Group.

“We are excited to partner with WTS Greater Kansas City on this session,” said Allison Klein, ARTBA’s senior vice president of strategic engagement. “The transportation design and construction industry leaders on our workforce panel will examine recruitment and retention challenges for women, minorities, and younger generation workers; and explore the growing impact of technology and artificial intelligence on future employment offerings and expectations.”

The meeting also features three top state transportation agency officials: Steve Hewitt, CEO of the Kansas Turnpike Authority, giving a Nov. 6 talk; and a joint Nov. 7 presentation by Patrick McKenna, director of the Missouri Department of Transportation, and Julie Lorenz, secretary of the Kansas Department of Transportation.

ARTBA Chairman Steve McGough, president and CFO of HCSS will open the two-day meeting at the Westin at Crowne Center; with remarks the following morning by Central Region Vice Chairman Jim Fehsenfeld, president & CEO of Heritage Construction & Materials.

The Central regional offers attendee the chance to obtain 4.25 Professional Development Hours. Please contact ARTBA’s Project Coordinator Lena Khtei for more details.
