ARTBA this week continued its regulatory advocacy on behalf of the transportation construction industry by submitting two sets of coalition comments with the federal government.

On June 7, ARTBA and seven other trade associations supported the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA, shown above) decision not to extend federal Clean Water Act (CWA) jurisdiction to cover groundwater. Such a broad reading of jurisdiction, the groups argued, would have gone beyond the intended scope of the CWA.

On June 10, ARTBA, as part of the Construction Industry Safety Coalition, filed comments with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) responding to the agency’s request for information on potential regulations involving “powered industrial trucks,” such as forklifts. The CISC comments focused on highlighting the areas OSHA must consider, such as injury data and multi-employer construction environments, before proceeding with potential regulations.
