The Arlington Memorial Bridge, now under repair, is referenced in Dave Bauer’s op-ed for The Hill.
By John Schneidawind, vice president of public affairs, ARTBA
ARTBA’s efforts to convince Congress and the Trump administration to “Fix the Highway Trust Fund” were amplified this week with three new opinion pieces by ARTBA CEO Dave Bauer. His views were published in The Hill newspaper’s Congress Blog, in the Buffalo News in New York, and the Springfield Republican in Massachusetts.
The placements in the Buffalo and Springfield papers specifically reference members of Congress with key influence over any infrastructure legislation that would restore the financial stability to the fund. In Buffalo, that’s Rep. Brian Higgins (R-N.Y.), who serves on the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, and Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.). In Springfield, the piece references Rep. Richard Neal (D-Mass.), chairman of the powerful House Ways & Means Committee, which must approve all funding measures.
Bauer has now authored or co-authored six opinion articles on this issue. The earlier placements were in the San Francisco Chronicle, Washington Examiner, and Washington Post.
