The U.S. Department of Transportation is seeking applications for the Fiscal Year 2019 Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) Transportation Discretionary Grants program. A total of $900 million in funding is available.

To provide technical assistance to stakeholders, DOT is hosting a series of webinars during the grant application period, which ends July 15. The first webinar is 3-5 p.m. Eastern, April 30. See the full schedule and registration information.

BUILD Transportation grants are for investments in surface transportation infrastructure and will be awarded on a competitive basis to projects that will have a significant local or regional impact. BUILD funding can support roads, bridges, transit, rail, ports or intermodal transportation. The agency intends to award half the money to projects in rural areas.

“These BUILD Transportation grants will provide needed infrastructure investment to better connect rural and urban communities around our nation,” U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine L. Chao said in an April 23 release.
