The Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) has issued a temporary enforcement policy, effective Feb. 7, for the crane operator evaluation requirements in the comprehensive regulations the agency issued in November.

In response to feedback from the construction industry that some employers need more time to document the evaluations of crane operators, OSHA is offering 60 days of compliance assistance, in lieu of enforcement, for employers who are making good faith efforts to comply with the new requirements.

OSHA will fully enforce all applicable provisions of the final rule beginning April 15, 2019.
