Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has appointed Kevin J. Thibault secretary of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).

Thibault is the former Southeast Regional senior vice president at ARTBA member firm TranSystems Corporation and a longtime member of the association’s P3 Division Board of Directors.

“It’s exciting for ARTBA to see such a familiar face leading one of the nation’s largest state DOTs,” said Rich Juliano, the association’s senior vice president, policy, and managing director of the P3 Division.

Thibault served earlier in senior leadership positions at FDOT for more than 16 years.

“As he returns to FDOT, I know Secretary Thibault will work hard to achieve the mission of providing a safe transportation system that ensures the mobility of people and goods, enhances economic prosperity and preserves the quality of Florida’s beautiful environment,” DeSantis, elected in November, said in a release.

At TranSystems, Thibault was responsible for managing $40 million in revenue and nearly 200 employees. He previously worked at Parsons Corporation.
