ARTBA Vice President of Legal and Regulatory Issue Nick Goldstein gave the keynote address at the 20th Annual National Industry for Construction Excellence (NICE) awards lunch Oct. 30 in Kansas City, Mo.
NICE is dedicated to developing the future construction workforce by working directly with youth and educators to emphasize the importance and benefits of careers in our industry.
Goldstein emphasized the importance of transportation construction to the national economy.
“Transportation construction generates $508 billion in annual economic activity,” he said. “In addition, transportation construction supports 4 million jobs.”
Goldstein also urged the audience to support Missouri’s Proposition D, a Nov. 6 ballot measure that would increase the state’s motor fuels tax by 10 cents per gallon over four years to invest in new highways, bridges and other transportation infrastructure.
