ARTBA this week continued to aggressively advocate for reform of federal Hours of Service (HOS) regulations, which the association believes apply to long-haul truckers and not transportation construction drivers.
The association filed Oct. 9 comments supporting an exemption filed by the American Concrete Pavement Association for drivers transporting ready-mixed concrete from portions of the HOS regulations.
The next day, ARTBA Vice President of Regulatory and Legal Issues Nick Goldstein personally addressed a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) hearing to support an exemption from HOS regulations for the transportation construction industry. ARTBA was the only transportation construction association to present remarks at the session. The association then followed up with written comments expanding on Goldstein’s remarks.
