A free Nov. 16 webinar will explore how to design work zones to maintain the safe and efficient movement of large construction vehicles within restricted right-of-way and reduced lanes.

The “Large Truck Safety in Work Zones” webinar, which begins at 2 p.m. Eastern, features two nationally-recognized work-zone safety experts:

Dr. Gerald Ullman has been a principal investigator or key researcher on over 70 different studies pertaining to work zone safety and operations, transportation management for incidents and major emergencies, and freeway operations and management. His research has been sponsored by the private sector and public agencies, including state transportation departments, tolling authorities, cities, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), and the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) administered through the Transportation Research Board.

Ms. Martha C. Kapitanov is a transportation specialist on the FHWA Work Zone Management Team and the FHWA Every Day Counts Smarter Work Zones Implementation Team. Kapitanov provides leadership and guidance to the development and implementation of effective work zone management practices and innovations on a national level.
