ARTBA’s Western Regional Meeting, Oct. 23-24, in Denver, is being held in conjunction with the Colorado DOT Transportation Summit. It also will feature a workshop on how innovative technology is changing transportation construction.

At the opening day CDOT event, ARTBA President & CEO Pete Ruane will deliver the keynote address with a focus on a permanent Highway Trust Fund fix and the Trump administration’s infrastructure package. ARTBA Chief Economist Dr. Alison Premo Black will provide an update on regional transportation market conditions, and a sneak peek at her 2018 forecast.

The “Innovative Technology” workshop will feature Mark Berry, a partner with Peckar & Abramson, P.C., and Matthew J. Schiemer, a vice president with Gannett Fleming. They will cover a variety of new technologies in the transportation construction industry and emerging innovations that could have a major impact on infrastructure development, including robots, drones and artificial intelligence.

Other Oct. 24 presentations include:

  • Colorado DOT Deputy Director Mike Lewis will discuss the state highway program and 2040 Transportation Plan.
  • Colorado Division of Aeronautics Director David Ulane will review his agency’s strategic plan.
  • Federal regulatory and legislative updates from senior ARTBA staff, plus regional market and government affairs news from transportation officials in other western states.
