Workforce development challenges and safety culture were among the topics discussed at ARTBA’s July 27 Engineering Issues breakfast at the Mid America Association of Transportation Officials (MAASTO) annual conference in Cleveland.
Seven state department of transportation officials participated in the discussion, and shared information regarding their respective agency’s estimated investment in transportation construction; planning and design contracts and resident engineer construction inspection services they will advertise over the next 24 months; and their positions on design-build and P3s.
ARTBA Planning & Design Division President Doug LaVoie, a senior vice president with CDM Smith, moderated the panel. Nearly 50 ARTBA members attended the event.
ARTBA’s next Engineering Issues event is an Aug. 14 luncheon at the annual meeting of the Southeastern Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (SASHTO) in Norfolk, Virginia.
