Newsline is providing short bios of new members of this key committee. This week: Rep. Brenda L. Lawrence (D-Mich.); Rep. Jason Lewis (R-Minn.); Rep. Alan S. Lowenthal (D-Calif.); Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-Calif.); and Rep. Drew Ferguson (R-Ga.).

Rep. Brenda L. Lawrence (D-Mich.): First elected to Congress in 2014, her district includes portions of Detroit and other parts of Oakland and Wayne counties. She had a 30-year career with the U.S. Postal Service. She serves on the T&I Committee’s Highway & Transit; Aviation; and Water Resources and Environment subcommittees. Rep. Jason Lewis (R-Minn.): The freshman is a former nationally syndicated radio talk show host. His district is directly south of Minneapolis/Saint Paul. He serves on the T&I Committee’s Aviation; Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation; and Railroads, Pipelines and Hazardous Materials subcommittees. Rep. Alan S. Lowenthal (D-Calif.) He was elected to Congress in 2012 after serving in the California State Assembly and California State Senate. His district includes the city of Long Beach and other parts of Los Angeles County. He serves on the T&I Committee’s Highways & Transit; Water Resources and Environment; and Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation subcommittees. Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-Calif.): Beginning his third term in Congress, his district covers California’s northeast corner. Rep. Drew Ferguson (R-Ga.) The freshman Congressman is a dentist and former small town mayor. His district includes most of Atlanta’s southwest suburbs.
