A total of about 200 transportation construction industry professionals attended ARTBA’s four annual regional meetings, which concluded Nov. 4 with Central and Northeastern gatherings in Chicago and Atlantic City, N.J., respectively. The Southern meeting in New Orleans and Western meeting in Austin, Texas, occurred Oct. 26-28.

This year, ARTBA’s Industry Leader Development Council (ILDC) developed expanded programs for all four meetings to include a professional development workshops. For example, the Chicago session focused on “The Impacts of Millennials on the U.S. Transportation Construction Industry,” while attendees in Atlantic City heard about  “Innovative Technology for Transportation Projects.” Autonomous vehicles were discussed in Austin; artificial intelligence in New Orleans.

Top industry leaders also shared their perspectives of about the state of business in each region. ARTBA senior staff briefed each gathering on federal and state transportation funding and regulatory issues, and the new Safety Certification for Transportation Project Professionals™ program.

The ILDC will soon begin looking for speakers and other program innovations to offer at next year’s regional meetings. For now, here are the dates and locations:

  • Central: Oct. 23-25 in Indianapolis, Ind.
  • Southern: Oct. 25-27 in Nashville, Tenn.
  • Northeastern: Nov. 1-3 in Boston, Mass.
  • Western: Nov. 6-8 in Denver, Colo.
