Transportation construction professionals, chamber of commerce executives and public officials are meeting this summer to share best practices, playbook secrets and other keys to success in advancing legislative and ballot initiatives that boost transportation infrastructure investment.
The 3rd Annual “National Workshop for State & Local Transportation Advocates,” a signature program of Transportation Investment Advocacy Center™ (TIAC), will be held July 13 in conjunction with ARTBA’s Public-Private Partnerships (P3) Conference at the Washington Court Hotel in Washington, D.C.
The event will highlight recent transportation funding initiatives—both successful and unsuccessful—as well as new research and analysis. Attendees will break into small groups to discuss their own real-world campaign challenges and share advice on how to overcome them.
ARTBA Chief Economist Dr. Alison Premo Black will provide a comprehensive report on recent state and local transportation funding trends, as well as preview November 2016 ballot measures. Dr. Stan A. Kaplowitz of Michigan State University’s Sociology Department will discuss polling characteristics and messaging. Jeff Loveng, principal and CEO of SBL Strategies and chairman of America’s Infrastructure Alliance, will address preemptive campaigns and messaging. More speakers will be announced closer to the event.
The annual meeting of the Transportation Investment Advocates Council will take place the evening before the workshop.
