ARTBA staffers are typically more familiar with hard hats than hair nets.

But the red mesh head coverings were mandatory for the 19 volunteers who showed up Oct. 23 at Food and Friends, a Washington, D.C. nonprofit that prepares and delivers meals to people with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-challenging illnesses.

For ARTBA’s annual community service project, the crew spent the morning preparing hundreds of frozen meals, fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as can goods and other staples.
