ARTBA Contractors Division President Jeff Clyde of W.W. Clyde, Springville, Utah, spoke to transportation officials from across the country during the AASHTO Subcommittee on Construction’s annual meeting in Little Rock, Arkansas. Attendees at the annual conference, Aug. 9-14, included construction engineers from 40 states, as well as senior officials from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).
Clyde, shown above, was invited to present on a panel discussing Utah’s experience with construction manager general contractor (CMGC) projects. The session reviewed Utah’s history with this contracting method from the standpoint of FHWA, Utah’s DOT and contractors. ARTBA staff helped organize the panel and provided discussion questions reflecting concerns that various ARTBA members have raised about CMGC.
