Senate Republican and Democratic leaders are still reportedly working to advance a long-term reauthorization bill before the July 31 deadline. Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) told reporters today he has developed a revenue package that would support “five-plus” years of highway/transit spending. The challenge, however, remains securing the necessary bipartisan support to pass such a plan. While Senators of both parties are working to find a path forward, the prospects for senate action on a multi-year bill in the next few weeks are real.
Accordingly, all senators need to hear about the importance of acting on a six-year reauthorization bill as soon as possible. Contact them through ARTBA’s Grassroots Action Center: www.tmaw.com/take-action.
