Nationally recognized construction law professionals held a series of panels on topics such as environmental issues in transportation construction, OSHA guidance, avoiding and resolving subcontractor disputes and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise compliance at the 7th annual “Transportation Construction Law & Regulatory Forum,” held June 15 and 16 at the ARTBA Building in Washington, D.C.
ARTBA Senior Vice President of Government Relations Dave Bauer gave the keynote speech to more 30 forum participants involved in transportation construction projects. Bauer highlighted the work ARTBA is doing to keep Congress focused on fixing the Highway Trust Fund and efforts to enact a multi-year surface transportation bill prior to the July 31 funding reauthorization expiration, an important topic to many of the contractors, designers, owners, public officials and industry leaders in attendance.
Top construction law attorneys and practice leaders from Killpatrick Townsend, Beveridge & Diamond, CH2M Hill, Peckar & Abramson, FTI Consulting, Stites & Harbison, LDA Compliance Consulting, Connell Foley, Post & Schell, Rogers, Joseph & O’Donnell and Lane Construction shared real-world advice on the most recent laws and regulations that affect businesses in the industry.
Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits were given to participants from some states. The annual event is “a key program for contractors, designers and others in the industry – the presenters and attendees discuss real world scenarios as well as legal and regulatory trends that can have a significant impact on transportation construction projects around the country”, said ARTBA Vice President Member Services and Managing Director of Materials & Services Division Allison Klein.
