U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.) will be the featured speaker for a December 11 luncheon held in conjunction with ARTBA’s Northeastern Regional Meeting at the Hyatt Regency Washington. The lunch is being hosted by ARTBA’s chapter affiliate, the Metropolitan Washington Road & Transportation Builders Association.
As a member of the Senate Environment & Public Works Committee and the Senate Finance Committee, Cardin plays a key role in helping shaping transportation policy on Capitol Hill, where he has served for nearly three decades. He will discuss regional and national transportation issues, the need for Congress to address the latest Highway Trust Fund (HTF) crisis, and pass a transportation reauthorization bill.
The Northeastern Regional meeting will also include ARTBA President & CEO Pete Ruane and ARTBA Senior Vice President of Government Relations Dave Bauer who will provide their perspectives on how the 2014 election results will impact the future of federal transportation investment, the prospects for a long-term HTF fix in early 2015, and surface transportation policy priorities in House and Senate.
Dr. Alison Premo Black, ARTBA’s chief economist, will also deliver a transportation construction market conditions report for the Northeast states.
