IRTBA ELP participants outside ARTBA Headquarters.

ARTBA hosted fellows of the Illinois Road & Transportation Builder Association’s (IRTBA) “Emerging Leaders Program” (ELP) April 2 in Washington, D.C. The IRTBA ELP program, modeled after ARTBA’s Young Executive Development Program (YEDP), exposes rising industry stars to ways they can play a greater role in promoting, protecting, and improving the future of the transportation design and construction industry. ELP Participants visit ARTBA headquarters each spring during a trip to the Nation’s Capital with IRTBA’s officers and board members.

The group was welcomed by ARTBA President and CEO Pete Ruane who underscored the importance of industry stakeholders being actively involved in advocacy efforts to educate elected officials and the public about the need for investment in the nation’s infrastructure. ARTBA’s Chief Economist Dr. Alison Premo Black and ARTBA Director of Congressional Relations Dean Franks also briefed the group before their visit to Capitol Hill to meet with members of the Illinois Congressional Delegation the following day.
