ARTBA’s Council of State Executives (CSEs) gathered this week in Whitefish, Montana, for their annual summer Meeting. The three-day event included updates and discussions about ARTBA legislative and regulatory reform priorities, the Trump administration’s infrastructure proposal, state funding efforts, work zone safety and workforce development issues.
Montana State Rep. Frank Garner (R-Kalispell) provided an overview of the state’s transportation infrastructure funding initiatives. Montana Department of Transportation Director Mike Tooley outlined the state’s construction and maintenance programs. And Donald Brummel of LHC Construction highlighted the unique challenges and opportunities facing Montana contractors.
The CSEs also saluted the three-decade leadership of Florida Transportation Builders Association President Bob Burleson, who is retiring at the end of the year. His successor, Ananth Prasad, was also in attendance.
2018 CSE Chairman Mike Sturino, president & CEO of the Illinois Road and Transportation Builders Association (IRTBA), presided over the meeting. 2018 ARTBA Chairman Matt Cummings of AECOM also participated.
